Xuhong Qian 

Professor Xuhong Qian is the president of East China Normal University; former president of East China University of Science and Technology. Professor Qian became a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2011. Prof. Qian has long been engaged in the research of organic chemical industry, focusing on the research and application development of green pesticides and functional dyes. He has developed key technologies for the green and efficient preparation of polyfluoroaromatic acid, the core intermediate of sandacin drugs; created cis-nitrorene heterocyclic nicotine insecticides and polyfluoroalkoxy plant health activators with new mechanisms and unique properties. Three created varieties (paichongding, Cycloxaprid, B2-a) have been registered. Prof. Qian has created aromatic heterocyclic fuorescentdyes such as naphthalimide, which integrates molecular recognition, sensing, detection and separation. Prof. Qian develops and implements concepts and methods in chemical biotechnology and engineering. As the first author, Prof. Qian has won 3 first prizes of Science and Technology Progress Award from the Ministry of Education, 1 first prize of Shanghai Natural Science Award and 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. As the first and second inventors, Prof. Qian has obtained more than 20 Chinese invention patent authorizations and 15 foreign patent authorizations such as the United States, Europe, and japan; Prof. Qian has published more than 440 papers, which have been cited nearly 20,000 times. Professor Qian has received numerous honors, Prof, Qian was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, was awarded the honorary doctor of Queen's University.
