Prof. Barron focuses on the research of the optical, electric and magnetic properties of molecules, especially the study on molecular chirality. He reported internationally the first Raman Optical Activity (ROA) spectrum and became the pioneer of both experimental and theoretical ROA. His book “Molecular Light Scattering and Optical Activity” has been regarded as the classical work of ROA theory and experiment. His publications have been repeatedly highlighted on the famous international academic magazines such as Science, Nature and C&E News etc. Owing to his distinguished contribution to chirality research, he is awarded many academic honors including the Chirality Medal instituted by the Societa Chimica Italiana.
